Cement Antifoams – Foam Control for Cement Slurries

Filtron Envirotech (India) is a leading manufacturer of specialty cement antifoams (defoamers) for oilwell cementing operations. Our antifoam products are exported worldwide and are the preferred choice of major cementing companies. We operate dedicated manufacturing facilities for the complete range of cement additives, including defoamers that eliminate entrapped air in cement slurries.

Cement antifoams are chemical additives designed to prevent and eliminate foam formation during cement mixing and pumping. Foam in cement slurries can reduce density, cause pump cavitation, lead to inaccurate slurry weight measurements, and compromise zonal isolation. Our antifoam formulations (silicone‑based and non‑silicone) rapidly collapse air bubbles, ensuring a homogeneous, stable cement slurry with correct density and improved pumpability.

These cement defoamers are compatible with all types of oilwell cement, accelerators, retarders, fluid loss additives, and dispersants. They are effective in fresh water, sea water, and high‑salinity mixing water, and they perform reliably at surface and downhole temperatures. By removing air entrainment, they prevent gas migration, improve cement bond logs, and ensure successful primary cementing and remedial squeeze jobs. Dosage typically ranges from 0.05% to 0.2% by weight of cement (BWOC).

Advantages:

  • Eliminates foam during mixing – Prevents air entrapment that causes density reduction and pump issues.
  • Ensures accurate slurry density – Allows precise measurement and control of cement weight.
  • Improves pumpability – Reduces cavitation and maintains steady pump pressure.
  • Compatible with all cement additives – Works with accelerators, retarders, fluid loss agents, and dispersants.
  • Effective in various mixing waters – Performs in fresh water, sea water, and high‑salinity brines.
  • Prevents gas migration – Eliminates foam channels that could lead to annular gas flow.
  • Enhances bond log quality – Provides a homogeneous cement sheath for better acoustic coupling.
  • Cost‑effective foam control – Low dosage requirement (0.05‑0.2% BWOC) for effective defoaming.
