The aging process can be conducted at either ambient or elevated temperatures, depending on the specific testing requirements. High-temperature aging cells containing sample fluids are placed in the roller oven where they are subjected to moderate heat and continuous agitation, rolling on power-driven rollers. Samples may also be heated without rolling for static aging tests when required by specific testing protocols.
Drilling fluid aging is a critical process in which a drilling fluid sample, previously subjected to a period of shear, is allowed to more fully develop its rheological and filtration properties. The time period needed for proper property development varies depending on the fluid composition and testing requirements — from as little as several hours (typically 18 to 24 hours) to as much as several days for specialized formulations. These Roller Ovens are constructed of polished stainless steel and other corrosion-resistant materials, ensuring long-term durability and resistance to harsh laboratory environments. They are well-insulated and the temperature is precisely regulated by a digital electronic controller. An internal circulation fan ensures even temperature distribution throughout the oven chamber, eliminating hot spots and ensuring consistent sample aging.
Advanced Safety & Control Features: Our Roller Ovens feature a completely redesigned electrical circuit that includes a state-of-the-art digital electronic controller using solid-state relays, providing precise temperature control and reliable operation. A first-in-the-industry redundant over-temperature safety shut-down system eliminates uncontrolled heater runaways and the dangers associated with excessive temperature failures, ensuring both operator safety and sample integrity.
